The "Junk" archetype, synonymous with Yusei Fudo from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, functions as the critical ignition system for the broader "Synchron" strategy. It is a combo-intensive, "glass cannon" deck that dedicates its entire turn-one strategy to a long and intricate sequence of summons. The singular goal is to construct an oppressive endboard of multiple powerful Synchro monsters to negate the opponent's actions and secure victory. The strategy's consistency, power, and vulnerability can be traced back to a single, pivotal card: Junk Speeder.
The Junk-Synchron deck is a complex machine. Each card serves a specific function, either starting the combo, extending it, or providing the consistency needed to execute the strategy reliably. Understanding these roles is fundamental to piloting the deck. Need to find the right parts? Check out this collection of assorted Junk cards to get started.
The premier Normal Summon. Revives a Level 2 or lower monster from the GY, setting up the first Synchro Summon.
The most vital consistency tool. Discard itself and a Tuner to search any "Synchron" monster, and revives a Tuner when used as Synchro material.
Summons itself from hand when a monster is revived from the GY. Generates two "Doppel Tokens" when used as Synchro Material.
A "free" Special Summon from the hand by paying 700 LP, but locks you into Synchro Monsters from the Extra Deck.
Start with Junk Converter + any Tuner. Discard both to search Junk Synchron.
Normal Summon Junk Synchron to revive Junk Converter from the Graveyard.
Synchro Summon Junk Speeder using both monsters. Its effect summons a swarm of Tuners from the deck, beginning the "Synchro Climb."
The ultimate boss monster. Banishes itself to provide an omni-negate for summons, attacks, or card effects.
Specializes in monster negation, shutting down key opponent effects and gaining ATK in the process.
While the Junk core remains untouched, the archetype's Heavy reliance on generic Synchro monsters and Tuner support means restrictions on generic support cards do have an impact.
Meta Implications: Despite restrictions on support cards, Junk's Flexible engine that works with various Synchron strategies allows the deck to remain viable with alternative tech choices.
